Bible Text: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” — Matthew 5:6 (NKJV)
Growth—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—often comes with struggles. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we face setbacks. I have been struggling with my weight due to a past knee injury, and no matter what I try, the progress seems inconsistent. Some days, the numbers on the scale go down, only to rise again later. It can feel discouraging, but I’ve realized that while physical health is important, there is another kind of growth that is even more essential—spiritual growth.
Just as our bodies require discipline and perseverance to become stronger, our souls must also develop a deep hunger for God. Jesus promises that those who truly seek righteousness will be filled. This hunger for Him is not a one-time event but a continuous pursuit of His presence, truth, and transformation. Even when progress seems slow, consistency is key. Reflect on your spiritual hunger—do you genuinely desire to grow closer to God, or have distractions dulled your passion? Identify one area where you feel spiritually dry or stagnant, and ask God to renew your desire for Him. Set a small but intentional goal for your spiritual growth, such as committing to daily Bible study, deepening your prayer life, or eliminating distractions that hinder your pursuit of God. Remember, spiritual growth—like physical growth—takes time, but God promises that if we hunger and thirst for Him, we will be filled.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to hunger and thirst for You more than anything else. Forgive me for the times I have neglected my spiritual growth or allowed distractions to take Your place. Help me to persevere, even when growth feels slow. Create in me a deep desire for righteousness, and fill me with Your presence. Teach me to trust You in every struggle, knowing that You are working in me. Help me take practical steps each day to draw closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
